1. Promoter
The promoter is ACTUAL SPORT INTELLIGENCE PTY LTD, ACN 700 939 484, a company registered in Victoria, Australia (the Promoter).
The Promoter operates Actual Footy at actualfooty.com.
Competition enquiries may be submitted through Contact Us inside the Actual Footy platform or emailed to p@actualfooty.com.
2. Acceptance of these terms
The competition is called The $5,000 Actual Footy Member Challenge (the Competition).
By submitting an entry, each entrant confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions. Information published by the Promoter about how to enter, scoring and the prize forms part of these Terms and Conditions.
3. Competition Period
The Competition opens at 6:00 am AEST on Monday 3 August 2026 and closes at 11:59:59 pm AEST on Sunday 23 August 2026 (the Competition Period).
All entries must be fully submitted and recorded by the Actual Footy competition system before the closing time. Starting an entry before the deadline is not sufficient unless the completed entry is successfully submitted before the deadline.
Actual Footy's server clock is the official clock for the Competition.
4. Eligibility
Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or older who:
- hold an Eligible Paid Membership;
- satisfy the continuous-membership requirement in clause 6; and
- comply with these Terms and Conditions.
A membership account must be held by an identifiable natural person. Shared, corporate or anonymous accounts cannot enter.
The following people are ineligible:
- employees, officers and contractors directly involved in administering or determining the Competition;
- their immediate family members;
- members of the official 2026 AFL All-Australian selection panel;
- anyone directly involved in determining the official 2026 AFL All-Australian Team; and
- anyone using confidential or non-public selection information.
The Promoter may require reasonable evidence of identity, age, Australian residency, payment and membership eligibility.
5. Eligible Paid Membership
An Eligible Paid Membership is an active FAN, PREMIUM FAN or PREMIUM CREATOR membership for which the applicable subscription fee has been successfully paid and retained by the Promoter.
A membership purchased using a generally available discount remains eligible if an actual subscription payment has been made.
The following do not qualify:
- the complimentary 24-hour pass or any free trial;
- complimentary or comped memberships;
- promotional free-access accounts;
- staff or internal accounts;
- unpaid creator or partner accounts;
- memberships for which payment has been refunded or charged back; and
- any other account receiving access without an actual subscription payment.
A gift membership is eligible if the applicable fee was genuinely paid to the Promoter and the membership otherwise satisfies these Terms and Conditions.
6. Continuous membership
An entrant must maintain an active, paid and unsuspended Eligible Paid Membership continuously from the time of their first entry until the Competition Period closes.
An entrant's entries will become ineligible if, before the closing time, the membership is paused, suspended, refunded, charged back, cancelled with immediate effect, allowed to lapse, or converted to complimentary or unpaid access.
Giving notice that a membership should not renew after the Competition Period does not make an entry ineligible if the membership remains active and paid through the closing time.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a member from exercising their normal cancellation rights. Cancellation or suspension taking effect before the closing time may, however, make their entries ineligible.
7. Entry allowances by membership tier
The maximum number of teams a member may submit is determined by their Eligible Paid Membership tier at the closing time:
| Membership tier | Maximum entries |
|---|---|
| FAN | 1 team |
| PREMIUM FAN | 3 teams |
| PREMIUM CREATOR | 7 teams |
These are maximum totals for the entire Competition, not daily or weekly allowances.
A member who upgrades during the Competition Period may submit additional teams up to the limit of their new tier.
If a member downgrades before the closing time, only their earliest submitted entries up to the limit of their tier at the closing time will remain valid. Later excess entries will be invalid.
Memberships, accounts and allowances cannot be combined. A person holding multiple accounts receives only the allowance attached to their highest Eligible Paid Membership tier. Creating or purchasing additional accounts to obtain additional entries is prohibited.
8. How to enter
During the Competition Period, an eligible member must:
- sign in to their Actual Footy account;
- open the official competition entry page on actualfooty.com;
- select 23 different eligible AFL players for each team;
- review and confirm the complete selection;
- accept these Terms and Conditions; and
- submit the completed team before the closing time.
Entries submitted by email, social media, direct message, post or any other method will not be accepted.
An entry is complete only when recorded by the Actual Footy competition system and an entry confirmation has been displayed or issued. Incomplete, late or improperly submitted entries are invalid.
9. Unique teams
Every team submitted by the same member must contain a different combination of 23 players.
Submitting the same team more than once does not create an additional valid entry. Only the first recorded version will be valid. A duplicate submission may still count towards the member's entry allowance and cannot necessarily be replaced.
10. Entries are final
Each submitted team is final and cannot be edited, replaced, withdrawn or resubmitted after it is recorded by the competition system.
Members are responsible for checking all 23 players before submission. Upgrading to a higher membership tier permits additional teams but does not allow an existing team to be changed.
11. Official Team
The Official Team means the final 2026 AFL All-Australian Team officially announced by the AFL and published through an official AFL communication channel, including afl.com.au.
The extended squad, media teams, fan teams, predicted teams and other unofficial selections do not constitute the Official Team.
If the AFL publishes an official correction within 24 hours after its initial announcement, the corrected Official Team will be used.
If the AFL changes the final team size, the Competition will continue using the scoring method in clause 12.
12. Scoring
Each valid entry receives one point for every selected player who is also named in the Official Team.
No points are awarded for positional placement, correctly identifying the captain or vice-captain, or selecting a player in the extended squad who is not named in the final Official Team.
The maximum anticipated score is 23 points.
Every valid team is scored independently and equally, regardless of membership tier. The winner is determined by selection accuracy and entry timestamp. No random draw is used.
13. Winner determination
The provisional winner will be the eligible member whose valid entry achieves the highest score.
A valid entry containing all 23 players named in a 23-player Official Team receives the maximum score of 23 points. If more than one entry scores 23, the timestamp tie-breaker applies.
If two or more valid entries achieve the same highest score, the provisional winner will be the member whose tied entry was recorded first by the Actual Footy competition system. The timestamp of the relevant individual team determines priority.
The provisional winner will be determined electronically by the Promoter in Victoria within 48 hours after the Official Team is announced.
If the AFL publishes an official correction within 24 hours of its initial announcement, the 48-hour determination period will run from publication of the correction.
The Promoter may audit entry, timestamp, identity, payment and membership records before confirming the winner.
14. Prize
There is one prize of AUD $5,000 cash. The total maximum prize pool is AUD $5,000.
The prize will be paid by electronic funds transfer to an Australian bank account held in the verified winner's name unless another lawful payment method is agreed.
The prize cannot be transferred to another person or divided between entrants. A person cannot receive more than one prize, even if more than one of their teams achieves the highest score.
Any taxation consequences are the winner's responsibility.
15. Winner notification and publication
The provisional winner will be contacted by email within 48 hours after the Official Team is announced. If the AFL publishes an official correction under clause 11, that 48-hour period will instead run from publication of the correction. Notification will be sent to the email address associated with the winner's Actual Footy account.
Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their membership email address is current, accurate and accessible.
The provisional result will be published on backpagesport.com within the same 48-hour period. If verification has not been completed, the result will be identified as provisional and subject to eligibility verification. The confirmed winner, or any replacement winner, will be published promptly after verification.
The published announcement may include the winner's first initial, surname, state or postcode, winning team, final score and submission time. A full profile, photograph, interview or additional personal information will be published only with the winner's consent.
16. Verification, unclaimed prize and replacement winner
The provisional winner must respond and provide any reasonably requested verification within 14 days after notification. Verification may include evidence of identity, age, Australian residency, membership ownership, successful membership payments and compliance with these Terms and Conditions.
If the provisional winner cannot be contacted after reasonable attempts, does not respond within 14 days, refuses the prize, fails verification or is found to be ineligible, the next eligible member will be determined using the original scoring and timestamp rules.
If an initially announced winner is found to be ineligible, Back Page Sport will publish a correction and identify the replacement winner.
The prize will be paid within 14 business days after the winner has been verified, accepted the prize and provided the information required to make payment. The winner will not be charged a fee to receive the prize.
17. Prohibited conduct
The Promoter may invalidate entries associated with false or misleading information, account sharing, identity manipulation, multiple accounts used to exceed an entry allowance, automated or scripted submission, system tampering, fraudulent payments, refunds or chargebacks, collusion, confidential information or any other material breach of these Terms and Conditions.
Using Actual Footy research, statistics and publicly available information to build teams is permitted and encouraged.
18. Technical problems
The Promoter is not responsible for an entry that is not received because of an entrant's device, software, internet connection or another system outside the Promoter's reasonable control.
If a material failure of the Promoter's systems prevents entries from being submitted or accurately recorded, the Promoter may take reasonable corrective action, subject to applicable law and any required regulatory approval.
Any approved material change will be published on actualfooty.com and communicated to affected entrants where reasonably practicable.
19. Changes or cancellation
If the Official Team is not announced, the award format changes materially, or circumstances outside the Promoter's reasonable control prevent the Competition from being conducted fairly, the Promoter may modify, suspend or cancel the Competition to the extent permitted by law and subject to any required approval.
The Promoter will not materially change the entry allowances, scoring or winner-determination method after entries open unless required by law or necessary to address circumstances making the original rules impossible or materially unfair.
20. Privacy
The Promoter will collect and use entrants' personal information to administer the Competition, verify eligibility and payment, record and score entries, contact the winner, award and publish the prize, prevent fraud and comply with law.
Information will be handled according to the Actual Footy Privacy Policy available on actualfooty.com.
Personal information may be disclosed to service providers, professional advisers and regulators where reasonably necessary. Entering does not provide separate consent to receive marketing communications. Existing communication preferences continue to apply.
21. Records
The Promoter will retain accurate records of entries and timestamps, membership tiers and payment eligibility, upgrades and downgrades, scoring and winner determination, winner notification and payment, promotional material and the applicable version of these Terms and Conditions.
Records will be retained for at least three years after the Competition ends or for any longer period required by law.
22. Consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
23. Complaints
Questions or complaints may be submitted through Contact Us inside the Actual Footy platform or emailed to p@actualfooty.com.
A complaint should include the entrant's name, Actual Footy account email and a description of the issue. The Promoter will consider complaints in good faith and may inspect competition, account, payment and membership records.
24. Independence from the AFL
The Competition is independently conducted by the Promoter.
Actual Footy and the Competition are not affiliated with, authorised by, sponsored by or endorsed by the Australian Football League, the AFL All-Australian selection panel or any AFL club. All third-party names and trade marks remain the property of their respective owners.
25. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
Entrants submit to the courts of Victoria and courts hearing appeals from them, without limiting any mandatory rights available under the laws of their state or territory.
